La endoscopia sigue siendo un método de gran importancia en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de lesiones del aparato digestivo. Se realiza el presente trabajo descriptivo de corte transversal, en el que se pretende determinar los grupos de edades y sexo, a los que con mayor frecuencia les fue indicada la panendoscopia, las causas de indicación de la misma, los principales diagnósticos endoscópicos y las complicaciones encontradas en el proceder. A un total de 997 pacientes se les realizó el estudio. El sexo femenino prevaleció, el grupo comprendido entre 35 y 44 años fue el que mayor número de pacientes aportó y la causa más frecuente de indicación del proceder fue el dolor epigástrico, seguido de la acidez y la dispepsia. La gastritis fue el diagnóstico endoscópico más frecuente, con 300 casos, seguido de la hernia del hiato y la duodenitis. Solo en 23 de los pacientes se presentaron complicaciones, 22 de ellas fueron laceraciones de la mucosa por el paso del equipo (AU)

Endoscopy is still a method of big importance in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries of the digestive system. The present descriptive, cross-sectional work is carried out to determine the age-groups and sex of the patients who were most frequently indicated the panendoscopy, the causes for indicating it, the main endoscopic diagnoses and the complications found in the treatment. A total of 997 patients took part in the study. There was a prevalence of the female sex, the age-group between 35 and 44 years old was the one with a greater number of patients and the most frequent cause for indicating the procedure was the epigastric pain, acidity of the stomach and dyspepsia.
